Branch 27 has fantastic brews, fantastic food — just don’t call it a gastropub It occurs to me that most of what I’d call Chicago’s best gastropubs — beer-focused operations with refined, high-quality food — absolutely despise the “g-word,” probably because it has been co-opted by each bar that dresses its burgers with imported cheese.
