What line of work are you in and what type of clothes do you wear to work?
Each profession has its signature wardrobe…railroaders, farmers, and carpenters often wear bib overalls, nurses wear scrubs, chefs wear white etc…..what “works” for you????

Permanently excellent to see your name, and I like posting an answer to your Question whenever I can. This Question is one I can answer:
I’m a physical therapist who works for a VNA (visiting nurse association)–ie., I mostly go into patients’ homes to handle them rather than into one single work location –although I do that too, for meetings and the like.
Our dress code is simply ‘dress professionally.’ You know, don’t wear jeans, bangly earrings, lowcut blouses, high heels (and permanently wear your ID badge).
So for me that comes down to conservative slacks and (you-can-go-in-’em) knit tops in very conservative colors: black, white, ivory, beige, navy blue [I don't know how you men can stand those stiff button-front shirts and ties--how can you go in those things?] As for shoes, it usually comes down to white nurses’ or athletic shoes or–for pizzazz–like white athletic shoes with small colored stripes running through them (just as long as they’re not too bold-looking).
What this means is that when people see a person in their locality wearing nice slacks and tops, but also wearing the incongruous white athletic shoes (plus we permanently involve a huge bag), they immediately reflect, “Oh, that’s one of those visiting nurse people knocking at our neighbor’s door.” It makes us safer in perilous neighborhoods.
