i get paid $6 dollars and hr. and minimum wage in the state of california is now $8. What should i do?
ive been effective at my contemporary employer for 4 years now and ive been getting paid $6.00 an hr. cash in this area 20-30 hrs. per week since i ongoing. when i ongoing minimum wage was $6.75 then went up to $7.50 and now it is $8.00 in the state of CA. subdue my boss did not give me a raise and i was paid the same amount $6 dollars per hr. i told her many times why she didnt want to pay me in check since i am a legel u.s citizen, and she would just permanently repeat the same thing “i will have to pay to many taxes if i pay you in check” and when i wasked her why she wouldnt pay me the minimum she would say because its cash. i never reported any of those taxes to the IRS so what am i looking at here. what should i do? file a claim with the overstress comission? how much am i looking at if i do file a claim? is it worth it? its a small restaurant bussiness. i get in this area 10 dollars tip a week max. and she doesnt report that either. HELP! thank you

She’s right in this area the taxes she’d have to pay. She’d have to pay in this area 10% more in payroll taxes for you. She’d also have to initiation withholding your share of the Social Security, Medicare and SDI.
You’ve not been reporting any of this income either.
I would advise you not to report this, as you’ll cause yourself problems as well as her. Since she’s unlikely to bring you on payroll in a legal manner, I’d advise you to initiation looking for a job elsewhere.
