Marriage proposal gone incorrect. How to make it up somehow?
I wanted to propose in downtown Chicago- Millenium Park or horse and carriage ride. I plotted on doing it on December 23rd, but the weather was not cooperating with the rain/freezing rain. The horse and carriage guy said that horses may or may not go out on 23rd or 24th due to the weather. Next, I was going to do it at the Adler Planetarium on the 24th all through a star show. Second didn’t feel right, so I skipped that, too. Then took her to a newer Italian restaurant- was NOT preparation on proposing there, but the food was horrible. We went back to my place to open up Christmas presents the night of 24th and proposed there. Was not romantic at all, but she said yes. I could tell on her face that even though she loved the ring, it just wasn’t what she expected. Any thoughts on how to somewhat make it up to her? Everything I plotted failed. Not sure what to do.
Try it again when the weather is better in a few weeks. You don’t need to propose again, just take her on a surprise super-romantic date. (For example: tell her you are just going to dinner, then take her to a 5-star hotel for the night and have some wine coming up for her there.) Tell her it’s a “thank you” for being willing to marry you, and later clarify sheepishly that all your proposal preparation went incorrect.
