We have 2 chickens for company, both 2 years ancient, were vaccinated when we had to do that need strengthening of salmonella?
I was a small worried because although the chickens are healthy, was well wormed regularly and are worried in this area the threat of salmonella in particular in what we eat eggs. If necessary a strengthening of the veterans of the salmonella is the best port of call, or I can buy myself, as I know it goes in your drinking water?. Any advice would be valued thanks!
No, chickens do not need any additional vaccines, permanently be kept clean and healthy. Salmonella is only a threat if you have dirty nesting boxes, and if handled naughtily eggs before eating. In fact, you probably have much less chance of contracting salmonella from pet chickens you make of factory farmed chickens and eggs. Just make sure you feed them a healthy diet that their cooperation is clean, and having access to potable water and space to play. You can delight in them greatly; and be rewarded with tasty eggs. Also, if you place a drug in the drinking water, go into the eggs, and you medicate yourself if you eat eggs. By So keep that in mind, and only medicate their birds, if they are really sick and it is absolutely necessary.
